I'm making this thread bc I need to place to review all the books I've been reading (and bc I'm looking for other stuff I might like too). What books are you guys reading now? Post them and let me know how you like them.

The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway

50% done, about to call it quits

This book is literally like watching someone play a boring version of the Sims at the slowest speed. >:C

The Rook and Stiletto by Daniel O'Malley

The author has a sense of humor that I enjoyed a lot in the writing, and I'll totally read the third book when it comes out. Tongue in cheek, campy writing in a setting very similar to how I imagine the Ministry except instead of wizards it's people with random paranormal powers, and it's a bit darker than the Harry Potter setting. Not perfect--I found some spots dragged and sometimes characterizations blended together--but pretty damn good popcorn reading.

Also, can I just say that all the main characters in these are females and they AREN'T focused on getting boyfriends all the time? Like a male author here is writing about actual women that are just doing their jobs? There are no male main characters. MIND BLOWN.

oh man, Lolita's one of my all time favorite books, I'm going to have to check that out. Isn't Jeremy Irons in one of the movies too?

he is! i haven't seen either of the movies, though

tbh, Nabokov's prose is so strong that it's hard for me to imagine the movie being any better than the audiobook.

also tbh, i felt some kind of shaaaaame for being attracted to humbert humbert in this reading >.>

yeah, the movies are okay but you can't beat the book. The writing is what makes it work, you know?

And man, that feels sooo wrong lmao

I'm currently reading the second book in the Misborn thrilogy by Brandon Sanderson. I love it! Any Sanderson fans in here?
